Sigur Ros Harvest Festival Australian Sideshows – Perth And Adelaide

Written by Brayden Darke on July 6, 2012

Sigur Ros have announced Australian tour dates on the back of their appearance on the Harvest Festival 2012 lineup this November. The Icelandic ambient group have been currently touring on the back of their latest album Valtari, which in English means steamroller.

Although the tour isn’t expansive, with Sigur Ros looking to play about 30 shows during 2012, the guys at Harvest have managed to secure them for the festival dates between 10th – 18th of November. The two sideshows will be at the Belvoir Amphitheatre in Perth and Thebarton Theatre in Adelaide, mostly, as it seems, to cater for fans in those cities who will miss out on the Harvest shows.

Bernard Zuel from the SMH explains what we can expect at the shows, saying: “…it’s not the oddities which mark out a Sigur Ros show. It’s that those elements combined mean there is something intangible and intoxicating created, that lifts you so you aren’t sitting in a hard chair in an old inner-city theatre anymore but standing in some big-sky, crater-marked landscape where everything – colours, textures, smells – is heightened and wondrous.”

These will be their only Australian shows besides Harvest. Tickets go on sale Friday, 13th July at 9am (Adelaide and Perth Local Times)
