Sigur Rós Are Teasing Something Mysterious

Ethereal Icelandic outfit Sigur Rós will touch down in Australia this July to perform at Splendour In The Grass for the second year in a row, as well as to perform some very special sideshows.

With rumours circulating that they’re are working on a new album, their first since 2013, Sigur Rós have just unveiled a mysterious teaser on their YouTube channel.

Strangely, the 10-second teaser clip comes with no music at all, and simply the words “Norður Og Niður”, which means “north and down” in Icelandic. In the description there is a link to to the sign up for a mailing list.

Upon sign up you’ll receive an email that simply reads “soon” as well as a picture download of the band.

Adding intrigue to the whole thing, Pitchfork reports that a representative for the band has said that the teaser is NOT for the album that they’ve allegedly been working on.

Sigur Rós will play career-spanning sets at shows in Sydney and Melbourne this July and will have no support act touring with them.

Check out the teaser and the dates for the band’s 2017 Splendour sideshows below.
