Sir Paul McCartney Gets Hour-Long ‘The Colbert Report’ Special Next Wednesday

Comedian and moral compass Stephen Colbert is known for using his comedy news program The Colbert Report to promote musical acts whenever he gets a chance but next week, for only the second time in the show’s history, a musical act will be taking the reins for an entire hour.

Sir Paul McCartney will feature in a special edition of The Colbert Report, with an interview as well as a live performance. The show normally goes for half an hour but, much like the special with Radiohead in 2011, McCartney’s episode will go for twice the usual length.

Colbert understands very well how influential his program is, jokingly commenting on the upcoming episode, “I think this McCartney kid’s got something special and I’m gonna put him on the map!” McCartney was previously on the show back in 2009, when Colbert interviewed him.

There is always a strong leaning towards the creative arts on the program, with Colbert even hosting his own Coachella-rip off StePhest Colbchella ’012: RocktAugustFest last year.

The show will air next Wednesday, 12th June.
