Skid Row To ‘Move Forward’ After Sudden Departure Of Singer Tony Harnell

US heavy metal legends Skid Row have vowed to ‘move forward’ after losing yet another singer, Tony Harnell, after he spent only eight months with the band.

Posting to Facebook late yesterday, Harnell, who is best known for his work with the band TNT, said, “I’m sorry to inform everyone that I’m no longer the lead singer for Skid Row. I thank the fans for their love and support.”

Since Harnell’s post, Skid Row have said they first found out about Harnell’s departure through his Facebook post, not through Harnell himself.

“The last we spoke with Tony was on Dec 17th,” the band say. “He was in the hospital being treated for ‘bronchitis with asthmatic symptoms’. We were all very concerned and offered any assistance we could to help him get healthy.

“Due to his condition we were forced to cancel our show in Chicago on Dec. 19th. The next time we heard anything was his post yesterday.

“That being said, we are all moving forward and wish Tony the best in his future endeavors.”

In closing, Skid Row addressed speculation that they might reunite with their former singer Sebastian Bach, who suggested in September that he was interested in rejoining the band for a reunion tour, and even hitting the road with a reunited Guns N’ Roses.

Skid Row says, “Lastly, amidst all of the rumors and speculation, there has been no talk of a reunion nor are we opening for Guns N Roses.”

Since the band’s statement, Harnell has made yet another post to Facebook apologising for a comment he posted “about being disrespected”.

“I owe the fans and band an apology for the Facebook comment I made last night… I didn’t exactly show an example of respect, and I truly apologize,” he says. “I let my emotions get the best of me.

“Again, thank you all for all the good we had, let’s celebrate that part of it all.”

Harnell joined Skid Row in April when the band’s longtime singer Johnny Solinger left the band to pursue a solo career. Solinger had joined Skid Row in 1999 to replace Bach, who toured Australia earlier this year on his 18 And LIVE tour.
