Skrillex Teams Up With Half Of The Doors

Electronica and dubstep producer Skrillex has produced a track with Ray Manzarek and Robbie Krieger of The Doors for Amir Bar Lev music documentary RE:GENERATION.

The 23-year-old Sonny Moore, from LA, has taken western dancefloors by storm as well as producing tracks for likes of nu-metal rockers Korn. Manzarek and Krieger, formerly keyboardist and guitarist with The Doors respectively, have been touring the music of their ex-band and the late Jim Morrison since 2002.

“He plays his beat, all he had to do was play the one thing. I listened to it and I said, ‘Holy shit, that’s strong,’” Manzarek told Rolling Stone. “Basically, it’s a variation on ‘Milestones’ by Miles Davis, and if I do say so myself, sounds fucking great, hot as hell. I like to say this is the first new Doors track of the 21st century.”

RE:GENERATION sees five DJs/producers teaming up with five diverse artists and crafting music that transcends both genres. Other musicians working together include Mark Ronson collaborating with Erykah Badu, members of the Dap Kings and Trombone SHorty on a jazz number; The Crystal Method producing an R & B song with Martha Reeves; DJ Premier on a classical piece with Nas and the Berklee School of Music Orchestra; and Pretty Lights contributing to a country song by Leann Rimes and Ralph Stanley.

The film is expected to premiere early next year. The trailer can be viewed below.
