Californian stoner rock pioneers and masters of doom Sleep are about to hit the country for the Meredith Music Festival as well as their debut Australian full tour and today have announced an extra Melbourne date after selling out the first show.
The veteran band will take the stage for a consecutive night at Melbourne’s Corner Hotel on Sunday, 7th December, before moving onto Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane, Meredith and then finishing things up in Sydney. Note that tickets to their show at Brisbane’s Crowbar have also sold out.
After a successful stint in the ’90s, Sleep reformed in 2009 and returned to Australia as part of Melbourne’s All Tomorrow’s Parties. In 2012 their “hour long, single-track slice of epic stoner goodness”, Dopesmoker, was unleashed onto the world in full, remastered glory.
The band have followed that up with their latest effort, The Clarity, their first new work since 1998. Tickets to the new Sleep Melbourne show are on sale now. See the updated tour schedule below.
