SNL Delivers Piss-Take Of White People’s Reactions to Beyoncé’s “Formation”

Since Beyoncé surprise-dropped her powerful anthem Formation this past week – perhaps the mostly politically overt song of her career – and followed that up with a show-stealing Super Bowl halftime set, Bey fans across the world have gone into a bit of a meltdown mode.

While many were bowing down in praise of the track and its video – which highlights numerous significant issues facing people of colour in the United States – some, as SNL point out, were having crisis of a different kind.

“For white people, it was just another great week. They never saw it coming. They had no warning,” begins the trailer. “Then, the day before the Super Bowl, it happened.” Titled The Day Beyoncé Turned Black, the spoof trailer takes inspiration from the wave of predictable disaster movies with footage of white people freaking out as they come to the realisation that their beloved Beyoncé is indeed a black woman.

The clip also may or may not be partially based on the reaction of our very own Andrew Bolt.
