Soundgarden Say Their New Album Will Be Released In 2017

Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell has revealed that the band’s next album is slated to be released in 2017.

We first got wind of a follow-up to their 2012 LP King Animal back in 2015, and earlier this year Cornell confirmed that Soundgarden were in the middle of writing the album.

Now, in an interview on KLOS Radio show ‘Whiplash’, Cornell has responded to questions about when we can expect the album to be out, and whether there were any plans to tour following its completion.

Cornell said 2017 will be the year of the release, and that a tour will more than likely follow. “Well, it’ll be in 2017 — both those things, hopefully, will happen — barring any, sort of, unforeseen thing, which I don’t see any reason why those two things won’t happen,” he said.

He continued, “The next thing that I am committing myself to concentrating on a hundred percent is the next Soundgarden album.”

It will be interesting to see how Cornell splits his time between working on the forthcoming album while also working with the recently reunited Temple Of The Dog, who re-released their self-titled 1991 EP this year. In August Cornell refused to rule out the possibility of expanding their tour beyond the US after this year.
