Soundwave 2014 Second Lineup Announcements Continue

UPDATE: Second Soundwave 2014 lineup has been announced — full details here!

It looks like Soundwave Festival promoter AJ Maddah has intentionally leaked yet another band ahead of tonight’s second line up announcement for the 2014 edition of his flagship event. Though this time the blame may lie with the vocalist of the band in question: Jake Pelzi of Defiler.

“Still waiting on paperwork from 5 bands on tonight’s announcement. Some bands like taking things to the wire!” tweeted Maddah, before Pelzi interrupted Maddah’s venting to engage in some tongue-in-cheek banter (see below) and inadvertently leaking Defiler as part of the Soundwave roster.

“ha ha. You’re on the announcement!” Maddah told Pelzi, adding Defiler to the list of names that have been prematurely disclosed, including pop-punk group Zebrahead, metalcore trio Devil You Know, and New Jersey five-piece I Call Fives, revealed as part of the bill earlier this week.

FULL SECOND LINEUP ANNOUNCEMENT IS HERE!

Defiler are led by the aforementioned 18-year-old frontman Jake Pelzi, whose artillery comes in the form of guitarists Ethan Lewis and Tony Bigley, drummer Ian Poole, and bassist Jesse Dhaliwal, with management led by Steve Ross of No Name Worldwide (Hatebreed).

Hailing from Northern California, Defiler classify their sound as “lifecore” and are recent additions to the family of independent label Razor & Tie. The band first made heads turn with their 2012 release, Nematocera, which can be viewed on iTunes, here.

Suicide Silence self-confirmed earlier this week and other names unveiled ahead of the second lineup announcement include King Parrot, The Porkers and The Bennies, though they are likely to appear exclusively as local acts.

Yesterday, reports surfaced that Soundwave punters could be treated to the likes of Eagles Of Death Metal and Black Veil Brides after FasterLouder published a poster for a New Zealand hard rock festival titled Westfest that featured several key Soundwave acts.

So far it looks as though Suicide Silence, Devil You Know, Zebrahead, I Call Fives, and Defiler, plus locals King Parrot, The Bennies and The Porkers, and possibly Eagles Of Death Metal and Black Veil Brides will be joining a lineup that already includes Green Day, Avenged Sevenfold and Placebo.

The full Soundwave Festival 2014 second lineup announcement is expected around 11pm AEDT tonight (Thursday, 7th November).
