Soundwave Perth Headliners Shut Down Early While Metallica Plays On

Festivalgoers at Soundwave Perth have taken to the internet to express their anger at the festival, after many indicated that all stages, save one, were shut down early on the final night of the festival’s national tour. According to a string of tweets, only Metallica, headlining Stage 1A, was left to complete their set while all other headliners, such as Pierce The Veil and The Amity Affliction, were cut short.

Exactly how early the festival stopped is unclear, though most reports claim that at least 20 minutes was shaved from the end of each headliner’s show, while Twitter user @pr0psandmayhem suggests proceedings came to a halt 1 hour sooner than scheduled.

The most likely explanation for the premature end to the event was a council curfew, as indicated by reports earlier last year. Music Feeds reported in May 2012 that Claremont Council is attempting to block festivals like Soundwave from taking place at Claremont Showground.

Many punters have claimed that anything from a death at the festival to diva antics from Metallica themselves were to blame. @AllDueRestraint blamed Metallica, suggesting the band had all other stages shut down for their set and labelling them as “egotistical cunts”

Some of those attending Soundwave Perth have pointed the finger at Claremont Council, with @pr0psandmayhem tweeting, “The council cuts back soundwave because of residency, fair enough, but cut headline acts off before the end is wrong!”

@brooooooke_ seconded the animosity towards the Claremont Council – “Seems like heaps of bands at #soundwave got fucked over tonight – Claremont you suck with your stupid ‘noise pollution’ complaints!”

Soundwave boss AJ Maddah’s Twitter account has been unusually quiet during this period of outcry from fans. Music Feeds will keep you up-to-date with any further information.
