Soundwave Revolution Is Cancelled – Alice Cooper Still Coming!

Rumours this morning that Soundwave Revolution was cancelled have now been confirmed according to an announcement via Nova969. A co-headliner have reportedly pulled out, and instead of going ahead with an inferior product, they’ve decided to cancel the whole thing.

Update: Statement from Soundwave:

It is with great sadness that we announce the cancellation of the Revolution Festival.

Many of the festival bands will still be coming to Australia in that time period and team up to bring you some very special shows. These will include multi band/mini festival line-ups in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. We will be announcing these events in the next 7 days.

Tickets purchased online will be refunded automatically as soon as it can be processed. If you purchased from an outlet, refunds will be available next week from point of purchase.

Update: Further info has been announced by AJ Maddah

– Cancellation announcement would have been tonight. Steel Panther jumped the gun.

– Packages will be put together for bands that are still coming here doing club shows.

– All credit card purchases will be refunded. Outlet purchases should be refunded at place of purchase.

– Soundwave 2012 still going ahead.

“We could have taken the option of linking through with the line-up as we have now – it would have obviously still been a much better financial outcome for us than to go through the road we have – but we just didn’t want to put an inferior product on the market.”

Rumours started this morning when Drummer for LA hair metal band Steel Panther Stix Zadinia, sent out some tweets stating how disappointed he was about the festival being cancelled. But, confusion arose when no other band’s seemed to know about the cancellation, Alice Cooper’s facebook page stating:

We are seeing the same rumors, though we haven’t heard anything from anyone official. We will reach out and see if there is any truth to this. Either way, I’m told that worst case scenario if the Soundwave shows were to be cancelled, we would likely continue with our own Australian shows and probably fill in other performances in place of the Soundwave shows. That guy deleted his posts about it, so perhaps he was wrong. Will post when we know something

No written statement has been released by Soundwave, or information about ticket cancellations.

Update: Since the cancellation, Alice Cooper has made it clear he intends to come to Australia for a tour. An update was posted on his Facebook page:

As far as we know the shows are still happening. We haven’t heard anything official from Soundwave about a cancellation or change of plans. We don’t operate based on rumors, we go with official information. It seems a bit odd that a lone support act would receive some kind of official announcement before anyone else, and especially a co-headliner like Alice. We are looking into the rumors of course and will post information if we get it. BUT, the fact is, we are working on Australian Visas this week, booking flights, hotels etc and we are looking forward our Australian tour. We love it down under and we can’t wait to come scare the pants off of all our Aussie Sickies.
