Soundwave Urges Fans To Dig Deep For Good Cause

The Soundwave community has today hustled together to lend a much-needed hand to one of its own. Top dog AJ Maddah recently fired off a tweet urging fans to do their part and donate to a charity set up to benefit Kerri Pawlowski McCanna, the sister of DevilDriver vocalist Dez Fafara. And the festival couldn’t have offered a better incentive…

Kerri has been diagnosed with breast cancer and a Micro-Giving charity has been set up in her name. All the donated cash will be used to fund “surgery, chemotherapy, & radiation for the upcoming year”. Kerri has since been relocated to a new location for treatment, a move that will result in two years of “out of pocket maximum costs”, which will surely cause even more undue stress.

You can check out the official profile here and also see the tally; at this point it’s at about $4200. Maddah has set a good example by forking out $2500 of his own cash for the cause, as well as doing what he can to stimulate more donations. The man himself has announced that when the total reaches $10,000, he will release the third lineup announcement for next year’s event.

All proceeds from DevilDriver’s new single Dark Meadowlark will also be donated. Now it’s over to you to do your bit! For the full Soundwave 2013 lineup, go here.
