Just in case it didn’t feel like the year was going fast enough for you, applications are now open for artists to submit their music for consideration to be part of South By Southwest 2017. The Holy Mecca of the music industry will attract the who’s who from the biz to Austin for the 10-day festival in March 2017.
In recent years, SXSW seems to be going H.A.M on Australian artists. Some of your current favourites like DMAs, Tigertown, The Gooch Palms and Twerps made the journey over, with many of our finest exports inevitably ending up on ‘Must Hear Artists From SXSW’ lists.
The Aussie contingent seems to get bigger and this doesn’t seem to be a coincidence either. SXSW’s South Pacific representative Phil Tripp says, “This year we had more than 40 bands perform at SXSW and over 750 delegates from the Interactive, Film and Music industries. This compares to just 20 delegates and five bands attending when I started in 2002.”
The earlybird submissions will close come Saturday, 10th September 2pm local time, leaving you with general application deadline of Saturday, 22nd October local time.
You’ve gotta be in it to win it so get your tunes, press parts and affairs in order and click here.
Hey, you got this.
