Spiderbait Announce 25th Anniversary National Tour

Children on the ’90s rejoice as Spiderbait have just announced they are hitting the road once more in February to celebrate their 25th anniversary together as a band, visiting Fremantle, Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.

But that’s not all, as Universal Music Australia has also gotten in on the good times by re-releasing the band’s Greatest Hits in a very special double disc vinyl edition with luscious gatefold cover (pre-order here).

Following on from their sold out 2014 tour, the 2016 tour marks a quarter century since the band came together in the rural NSW town of Finley. Rising to the top of the Australian music industry, with singles topping the ARIA Chart, the triple j Hottest 100 and multiple Gold selling albums, the band left an indelible mark on the Australian music scene over their career, selling over half a million records.

Describing their very first session together drummer Kram recalls:

“It was a very weird but awesome rehearsal we had on Janet’s rice farm surrounded by giant tractors…we jammed Cosmic Psychos and Dinosaur Jr covers. We definitely had no idea then that we would become the band we have. We were kinda cool but kinda crap too, but didn’t care. It was such fun to play together. Still is!”

Over the years, Janet, Whitt and Kram have played every gig under the sun, from Splendour in the Grass to the relics of the ’90s and ’00s like Livid and Homebake, their onstage chemistry and musical rapport driving a great live show.

Still, for a band who never thought they’d get too far beyond the paddocks of Finley, the tour is not only a chance for fans to experience the onslaught of humour and rock and roll, but all for the band to get out on stage and enjoy themselves again.
