Splendour In The Grass Is Auctioning Off Festival Tickets For Charity

50 VIP tickets to this year’s Splendour In The Grass are about to go up for grabs, with the proceeds going to a very good cause.

As you may recall, literally the day after Splendour dropped its 2017 lineup, the festival’s hometown of Byron Bay and surrounding areas got smashed by floods at the hands of now ex-Tropical Cyclone Debbie. Homes, businesses, schools and local spaces were destroyed, leaving the community totally devastated.

So now, Splendour is doing its bit to help the Northern Rivers flood relief effort and clean up Debbie’s damage, by putting 50 more tickets to this year’s sold-out extravaganza up for grabs, and not just any tickets — these are exclusive ‘gold passes’, which grant the lucky holders access to Splendour’s Gold Bar (VIP vibes), Amphitheatre side of stage viewing and also the Golden View Bar, overlooking all the main stage action.

“Splendour is proud to call Northern NSW home and many of our event team live and operate businesses across the Lismore, Byron and Tweed Shires,” say Splendour co-producers Jessica Ducrou and Paul Piticco.

“It has been heartbreaking to see the flood damage on such a huge scale and also to hear so many stories of loss. We hope that this fundraising initiative will provide assistance to those who need it most.”

The auction will run from 9am to 9pm from Tuesday, 2nd May to Friday, 5th May, with a fresh batch of Flood Relief Gold Passes to be released each morning, each capped at a $500 reserve.

The only thing to note is that onsite camping has now been maxed out, but the lucky winners can check out other accommodation options here.

In the wake of the new announcement, Splendour has carefully reiterated its anti-scalping stance, emphasising that this is a one-time deal for charity only, with 100 per cent of the proceeds to be donated to the Mullumbimby & District Neighbourood Centre Inc., the Lismore City Council Flood Appeal and the Tweed Mayor Appeal Fund.

You get VIP tix to Australia’s biggest festival and maximum karma points, while the Northern Rivers region of NSW gets much-needed funds to help with their flood recovery effort. Surely there has never been a more appropriate example of the term “everybody wins”.
