There is some important news for any rising Poké Trainer planning on hunting their way through Splendour In The Grass 2016, and we know there are a lot of you: The festival’s official and out-of-this-world pre-party will be a mobile-free zone.
Trainers and non-trainers alike will be required to hand in their phones upon entry where they will be safely stored until the end. This will also apply to anyone rocking a camera or any form of filming device. Failure to hand over any of the above will result in a straight up ejection from the venue.
Ticketing T&C’s make a pretty valid argument of “who needs social media when you’re at the part of the year anyway?” and we’re guessing that something fairly spectacular is planned. Dare I say even more spectacular than catching a Charizard (but let’s be real, more likely a Zubat anyway).
The pre-party will be the first live show from The Avalanches in donkeys, and they lead a charge worthy of such an event, including The Kills, Methyl Ethyl, Harts and a DJ set from KLLO.
Catch details here below.
UPDATE: Organisers Secret Service say the restrictions have been put in place both to ensure a “unique experience for patrons” free from distractions, and so as not to spoil “any special surprises that the artists may have in store for the festival goers across the weekend”. See the full statement below:
We want the party to be a special and unique experience for patrons to enjoy, without the distraction of their mobile phones and social media. We also don’t want to alienate or spoil any special surprises that the artists may have in store for the festival goers across the weekend.
