UPDATE 27/07/16: Fat White Family have spoken out about being evicted from Splendour In The Grass by police, explaining why they believe they were kicked out of the event.
ORIGINAL STORY: UK rockers Fat White Family made waves at Splendour In The Grass this weekend when their frontman Lias Kaci Saoudi performed half of the group’s set naked, and now they’re making more waves, with a report claiming that the group are believed to have been thrown out of the festival by police.
As The Music reports, James Young, the owner of Melbourne’s Cherry Bar, claims he saw police officers standing with Saoudi as he approached the frontman to introduce himself after their Splendour set.
Saoudi was reportedly holding ice against is nose and “there was blood all over the floor”.
“I’d heard from someone else that they’d invited [Fat White Family] into their trailer and they drunk all their booze and trashed their van. They got evicted from site,” Young says.
“It was the whole talk of the backstage area. I mean, there’s lots of bands playing and things are very professionally run at Splendour. Pretty much everyone from the police, to the site organisers, to all the other bands wanted the drunken wired cunts out of there which is exactly what happened.”
On their Facebook page, Fat White Gamily have called their Splendour show “an extremely smooth start” to their Australian tour, but it seems it was anything but.
Despite the Splendour incident, the band played Cherry Bar last night, and staff supposedly told Young that they were very well behaved.
It seems there might also be other troubles plaguing the band. Guitarist Saul Adamczewski didn’t make the trip to Australia due to personal reasons, and now fans are speculating that he has left the band permanently.
Fat White Family are yet to make an official statement about the speculation, but Adamczewski is currently being replaced by Aiden McMillan, the former frontman of The Metros.
