Steel Panther Announce New Album ‘Lower The Bar’, Drop “Sexified” Cheap Trick Cover Video

Get ready to soil your spandex, because everyone’s favourite leopard print-spangled, cock rockin’ man-skanks Steel Panther are about to drop a brand new album, and with it your girlfriend’s underpants (probably).

For their fourth studio outing, the whoresome foursome are setting the bar around the same height that drummer Stix Zadinia would have us believe his junk hangs – low. In fact, the hair metal revivalists have actually dubbed the disc Lower The Bar (which, when you think about it, is actually a sign of positive progress in limbo terms).

Anyhoo, the announcement has been heralded by the arrival of a (sort-of) brand new tune and music video. The hard riffin’ hairspray enthusiasts have dished up a “sexified” cover of Cheap Trick’s classic She’s Tight, which they reckon exposes “the skin that was lacking” in the iconic rock band’s OG 1982 hit.

But TBH it’s actually a pretty faithful cover (apart from Panther changing the word “smoke” to “joint” in one of the end lines) and represents probably one the tamest songs in their ever-burgeoning guitarsenal.

On the subject of why they chose to sink their teeth into this particular cover – which is also packing a cameo from Cheap trick’s Robin Zander himself FYI – frontman Michael Starr explains:

“Cheap Trick was one of my favorite bands when I was younger. I’m so proud to have recorded this track for our new album and also to have Robin Zander himself sing with me on the song. It’s like a dream come true.”

Just a word of caution, if Steel Panther keep this up they could be in serious danger of getting taken seriously as the incredible musicians that they actually are.

But I digress. The video clip for She’s Tight is chock-full of cameos, including one from Zander, plus Bobbie Brown, Paris Michael Jackson (MJ’s daughter) and Tony Palermo from Papa Roach. Much like a venereal disease, you can catch it below.

Meanwhile, Fanthers will be able to get their claws on Lower The Bar – the follow-up to SP’s 2014 chart topper All You Can Eat – when it drops on Friday, 24th February 2017.

And ICYMI: Steel Panther also recently signed a deal to star in a brand new comedy series about their favourite thing: themselves.
