Storm The Sky Announce Departure Of Drummer Alex Trail

Melbourne’s Storm The Sky have announced the departure of their drummer Alex Trail, whose last show with the band will be at UNIFY Gathering festival this weekend. The band say they won’t be looking for a new drummer.

In a video message to fans (below), Trail says, “I’m at a point where I can confidently say I’ve gotten everything that I really wanted to out of this experience. And it has been absolutely amazing, but now, 10 years down, I can’t see myself continuing in this particular lifestyle or in the industry.”

Trail didn’t perform on Storm The Sky’s latest tour supporting The Used, and his bandmates have also released a statement about his departure.

“It is with a sore heart that we have to let you all know that our long time drummer Trail (Alex) will be leaving the band due to personal and career endeavours in his life that he’s moving on to, and that we’re extremely excited and happy to get behind and support,” the band say.

“Trail has been our brother for the last 10 years and so we will dearly miss having him around. We’re all still close mates and wish him all the best in the future.

“With that said, we will be continuing as a four piece and won’t be looking for a new drummer. Alex is an amazing friend and musician and we can’t imagine replacing him anytime soon. Instead we’ll be involving and jamming with musicians that we respect and hold as dear friends. We have a lot of exciting things in the works so stay tuned!”

Following UNIFY Gathering 2017, Storm The Sky are set to tour the country as part of their run of all-ages ‘Sin will Find You’ shows this March.

The band have also just unveiled the music video for ‘Wake Up Sleeping’, which is the third and final part of their ‘You Do This To Me’ video trilogy, which also includes the clips for ‘Lilac’ and ‘Medicine’. The new video for ‘Wake Up Sleeping’ was shot in one take at Melbourne’s Astor Theatre, and you can catch it below alongside Trail’s farewell video.
