In the closing days of August, word spread of two new singles coming from hip hop mainstay Missy Elliot. News of the forthcoming singles titled 9th Inning (pictured above) and Triple Threat (pictured below) came from track producer Timbaland, who tweeted that Elliot would debut the fresh tunes during a performance in early September.
Sure enough, as promised Elliot gave those in attendance a taste of her new music over Labor Day weekend, but fans around the world had to hold on a little longer for studio versions of Triple Threat and 9th Inning.
Now the wait is over as the two new singles will be available for purchase from midnight and can be streamed right now via Missinfo.tv. As reported by Pitchfork, the single 9th Inning is a critique on the current state of music, with Timbaland offering the following analogy, “The music game is in a bad state, so we’re in the ninth inning like World War II and we have to come in and try to salvage what’s left of it.”
