Sufjan Stevens to tour in February

Sufjan Stevens is coming back, and apparently he’s bring the whole band along for some luscious orchestral/electronic/folk/whatever-the-fuck-he-can-think-of pop to our fair shores in February.

According to an article in The Adelaide Advertiser on upcoming events, Mr Steven will be bringing ‘his indie folk-pop style and a full band including woodwind, brass and choir, to the Festival Theatre on February 1.” This would make sense considering the recent release of his latest album The Age of Adz, his first song based album since 2005’s Illinois.

Having been lucky enough to hear an album stream of it myself, don’t expect Sufjan to be going back to his more traditional roots with this, as the album clearly bears the mark of his experimentation with electronics and orchestras such as the stunning BQE album or his crowing achievement You Are The Blood, from the Dark Was The Night compilation released last year. If you never heard the song listen here, it is absolutely amazing.

Anyway, still no confirmation from his camp about this but stay tuned for what I hope will be a full tour of the country.
