Surry Hills Festival Announces Return For 2014

After taking a year off the festival calendar in 2013, the popular Surry Hills Festival is set for a triumphant 2014 return and will be taking over the famed Sydney suburb this Saturday, 27th September. Organisers have announced they’re now taking applications to participate in the event.

The 2014 event has been aptly themed “An Event of Stories, Love & Tales,” and will take place in and around the areas of Crown Street, Ward Park and Shannon Reserve. The free festival program promises to be a family-friendly day packed with a stellar live music lineup, pop-up showcases and performance spaces interwoven with local narratives, food and art.

Applications are now open for vendors, bands, DJs, artistic performers and local businesses to get involved. Local creative spaces are invited to open their doors as part of the inaugural Artist, Creative & Design Studio Trail, which will give the public an opportunity to engage directly with Surry Hills’ thriving creative scene.

Applications for solo musicians, bands and DJs close on Friday, 8th of August, while the deadline for artists, designers and creative spaces wanting to participate in the Studio Trail is Friday, 15th August.

Stay tuned to Music Feeds for the lineup announcement when it drops. For application details and information on how you can participate in this year’s community projects, which will include an original song competition and a flash disco dance-a-thon, head to the Surry Hills Festival website.
