Sydney’s Imperial Hotel Announces Live Music Venue

Sydney’s The Imperial Hotel, located on Erskineville Rd, Erskineville, have announced the rebranding of their basement as a new live music venue, dubbed The Roller Den, with a view to bringing more music to the venue, famous for its cabaret and alternative live performances.

As theMusic.com.au reports, The Roller Den will be managed by the Kingdom Sounds group, who will oversee live music in the 550 capacity pub’s new venue, in addition to their current work managing music at the Entrance Leagues Club, The Burdekin, Mona Vale Hotel, and Hornsby RSL.

“I believe the venue will be one of many more to come in Sydney’s hub for music, arts and culture and I’m stoked to have my team and myself involved in the new wave of live music venues and culture in the area,” Kingdom Sounds Director Steve Sewell told theMusic.com.au.

The venue is set to launch on 7th March 2014 with a performance by Sydney blues rock outfit, The Snowdroppers. A hip-hop night, dubbed Knowledge, will kick off Saturday, 22nd March, with MC L-FRESH The LION headlining, and indie club night, Common People, will launch Friday, 4th April.

The news comes amid turmoil for the Sydney live music scene, with the famed Annandale Hotel recently announcing a sudden closing of its doors and relocation of gigs amid renovations, and beloved pub and club night venue The Abercrombie Hotel announcing its close earlier this week.
