UPDATE 31/08/2016: The full list of dates and venues for Laneway 2017 have been revealed, as has a date for when the lineup will be unveiled.
ORIGINAL STORY: Sydney Laneway Festival’s oft contested homeland of Callan Park has been secured for another year.
Taking to Facebook, Former Mayor of Leichhardt and current member of the Elected Mayors Council of the Inner West Darcy Bryce confirmed that following a few weeks of uncertainty, the venue long-standing venue for the festival’s Sydney leg will remain. The uncertainty arose after talk of closing down the college and relocating the campus elsewhere.
“I’ve been fighting hard behind the scenes to make sure that we can get a guarantee that Laneway Festival will proceed because it’s the best thing that’s happened to the inner west music scene in a long, long time,” says Bryne.
“Sydney University have just announced that the laneway festival will be proceeding here in 2017. The fight to make sure that Sydney College Of The Arts remains here at Callan Park will go on, but this is great news for music lovers in the Inner West and across Sydney.”
While a Laneway 2017 lineup is still a ways off from being announced, this week saw a potential line-up leak from what could be the first self-confirmed artist on the bill.
