Sydney’s Oxford Art Factory Is Up For Sale

Sydney’s beloved live music venue Oxford Art Factory is up for sale, with an auction to be held in just over a week’s time.

Oxford Art Factory has been listed on the Real Commercial website, and is described as a “rare and iconic Sydney metro investment”.

The listing points out that a new 10-year lease of the venue will be available this month, “plus options until 2035”. So while this doesn’t mean the venue is closing, it means its lease could soon be changing hands.

Oxford Art Factory is yet to publicly comment on the reason for the sale or what it will mean for the venue’s future. It’s definitely a sale to keep an eye on, though, with Sydney’s Goodgod Small Club announcing its sale only last month.

Oxford Art Factory opened at its current location, 1/38-46 Oxford Street, Darlinghurst, in 2007. An auction for the venue’s new lease is set for 11am AEDT Thursday, 29th October at Sydney’s Sofitel Wentworth Hotel. View the venue’s listing over at the Real Commercial website.

UPDATE 21/10/15: Oxford Art Factory’s boss and real estate agent have both reassured locals that the business isn’t for sale, and is simply searching for a landlord to take ownership of the property on which the venue sits.
