After a sell out six week season of performing the Man In Black Show, Tex Perkins will return to his home town of Brisbane to perform a double show with the Dark Horses as well as his new Band of Gold at the Twelfth Night Theatre.
First up will be the Band of Gold, with 4 members who performed with Perkins as apart of his Man in Black shows. They will perform their debut album and instantly take the audience into the longing and world-weary moods of the songs. Tex, as the well-seasoned voice of experience, is joined by Rachael Tidd, who provides a perfectly sweet counterpoint, in the tradition of Emmylou Harris and June Carter. This ain’t no modern plastic shit, this is straight from the Grand Ole Opry.
After a short interval to parch dry throats, the legendary Dark Horses will take the stage. With Perkins at the helm, they are a formidable monster of a band. Songs of yearning, song of loss and heartbreak drip from their new record and the translation from tape to live show has always proved for these gents that they lift the music into a transfixing and heady performance.
Tex Perkins and the Band of Gold album is out now. Tex Perkins and the Dark Horses will release their new album Friday 19th August.
