The Crooked Fiddle Band October/November 2011 – Overgrown Tales Tour

The Crooked Fiddle Band have announced some tour dates for October and November on the back of their debut album, Overgrown Tales, recorded in Chicago with legendary engineer Steve Albini (Nirvana, The Pixies, Joanna Newsom, Gogol Bordello, PJ Harvey).

Australia’s ‘chainsaw folk’ vigilantes blew away audiences in the UK and Europe, appearing there for the first time. The band were picked up by both a German and a UK agent on the strength of the reviews and shows there, and are now set to hit the road to play to home audiences once again.

Driven by the beautiful and furious fiddling of Jess Randall, and underpinned by a rhythm section featuring Gordon Wallace (bouzouki, guitar, banjo, mandolin), Mark Stevens (double bass, Appalachian dulcimer, charango) and Joe Gould (drum kit, hand percussion, garbage bin, vocals) The Crooked Fiddle Band sound blasts, rocks and grooves to the point of dementia, whipping listeners into a joyous frenzy. Combining stunning musicianship with a rhythm and energy aimed straight at romantic hearts and dancing feet, The Crooked Fiddle Band intertwine folk traditions with modern evolutions and have impressed all who have encountered them.
