The Drones To Release Live DVD

One of Australia’s most credible bands, the Drones, have announced details of a live DVD due for release in September.

The DVD offers an impressive four-and-a-half hours of Drones action. Entitled A Thousand Mistakes, the release marks the second live DVD from the Melbourne band after 2007’s Live From Madrid.

Triple J reports that the large part of A Thousand Mistakes is “an intimate live session of rarely played songs” recorded by the Drones in a warehouse in early 2010. Also on the DVD is footage from a show at Melbourne’s East Brunswick Club, as well as “a bonus disc featuring rare live footage filmed 2005-2010, in Germany, France and Australia.”

You can watch a trailer for the DVD below.

The Drones were overlooked on the recent ‘Hottest 100 Australian Albums’ from Triple J, something Gareth Liddiard, Mike Noga and company may be taking as a badge of honour given the nature of that particular exercise.

Noga released his solo album The Balladeer Hunter earlier this year, with rumour and conjecture gathering pace that the Drones may release a new album either in 2011 or early 2012, marking the follow-up to their internationally-acclaimed 2008 LP, Havilah.

A Thousand Mistakes has an official release date of September 16.
