The Drums Frontman Announces Solo Album

Brooklyn-based indie pop outfit The Drums have worked consistently since their formation in 2008, releasing two studio albums amongst several EPs. However, next year the frontman of the band, Jonny Pierce, will be releasing his own solo album as he moves in a slightly alternative direction to that of his previous collaborative works with the remainder of The Drums.

The self-produced record is set to be released early 2013, with the first single I Didn’t Realise available below for your listening pleasure.

Speaking to NME, Pierce confessed that “some might say it’s strange for a man to bare his soul the way I do on this album, but I wanted to do something that exposed me for who I am even more so than anything I have done with The Drums”. He continued, “I wanted to be as self-indulgent as possible with this album. This is pop done the way I think it should be done.”

The lead single sees Pierce take a more electronic/dream-pop approach to his work. See for yourself below.
