The Good Ship Announce Departure Of Daz Gray

Shanty-singing Brisbane seafarers The Good Ship have announced the departure of member Daz Gray, who served as one of the band’s songwriters and as co-frontman. Taking to their Facebook page, the band said the egress is a result of Gray deciding “his work with the band is done.”

“Today we announce that one of our beloved crew, Capt Daz Gray, has decided to disembark from the Ship,” opens the message to “lovers, listeners and friends” of the band. “There has been no rock & roll style explosive event, no band-room screaming matches or even an onstage hissy fit.”

“Life changes, things have a beginning and an end and this is the end of Daz being with The Good Ship. We all love him and will always cherish the time we have enjoyed playing, recording and touring with him over the last few years,” the band continue, assuring fans they will carry on.

“We love being part of this with you and want you to know that The Good Ship will be continuing on, full steam ahead – our new beginning as a septet is starting already and 2014 beckons.” The band recently played Festival Of The Sun 2013 and are set to play Falls Festival Byron Bay.

The Good Ship ‘Capt Daz Gray’ Facebook Statement

Dear lovers, listeners and friends of THE GOOD SHIP

Today we announce that one of our beloved crew, Capt Daz Gray, has decided to disembark from the Ship. Along with John, Geoff and Brett, Daz helped to form The Good Ship back in late 2008 and after five years, he has decided that his work with the band is done. There has been no rock & roll style explosive event, no band-room screaming matches or even an onstage hissy fit… sorry to disappoint on that count. Life changes, things have a beginning and an end and this is the end of Daz being with The Good Ship. We all love him and will always cherish the time we have enjoyed playing, recording and touring with him over the last few years.

We know that the band has provided many people with a huge amount of enjoyment, many late and lovely drunken nights (and days) and an ever-growing community of extended friends and family. We love being part of this of with you and want you to know that The Good Ship will be continuing on, full steam ahead – our new beginning as a septet is starting already and 2014 beckons.

In the meantime, please join with us and raise a glass to Mr Daz Gray as he steps onto dry land and off The Ship that is Good… the pleasure has been truly ours, dear sir.

Much Love

The Good Ship

Johnny, Geoff, Brett, Janey, Kat C, Jimmy & Kat O
