The Grates To Open Their Own Bar

Written by Mike Hohnen on September 4, 2012

Motivated by the huge success of the Southside Tea Room that the band opened last May in Morningside, Brisbane, The Grates have announced today that they will be furthering their exploration into the world of hospitality, detailing plans to launch their own fully licensed bar.

To be christened Southside Bar, the venue can be found out the back of the tearoom. The grand opening will take place this coming Friday, and all the juicy deets have been put up on the band’s Facebook page. Punters are sure to be able to find their favourite beverage on the list of “bottled treasures or tap”: cider, wine, sparkling white and “a particularly delicious cocktail called The Southside. According to the Facebook post, there will also be pretzels and sandwiches to help battle the dreaded drunchies.

Should the bar follow in the same fashion as the tearoom, it will be a raging success in no time at all. Southside Bar will be open for business from this Friday (just in time for BIGSOUND) and then every Thursday through to Sunday from 5pm, and will stay open late.
