The Holy Soul announce first headline show of 2011

Sydney’s favorite sons of swamped out vitriolic blues rock The Holy Soul have just announced their first headline show of the year, the band set to play The Excelsior Hotel on April 29th, possibly for the last time before it turns into a wine bar. The band will be playing with support from Kim Salmon & Leanne Cowie from The Scientists playing a selection of the band’s back catalogue, while local boys and one of my favourite bands in Sydney Dead China Doll will be opening up with some new material set to feature on their second album.

The Holy Soul will be playing a wide selection of material, along with some songs from their forthcoming LP, the follow up to 2009’s Damn You, Ra. One of Sydney’s best live acts by a mile, the band blowing everyone’s face off when they played Good God a few weeks back with Reckless Vagina, if you like your music good, don’t miss this gig.

If you haven’t seen them before here’s a little taste of what it’s like, although it warrants mentioning that this video is far too tidy and controlled and that actually seeing them live is more like watching some fevered bayou baptist exorcism. Anyway enjoy.
