The Julie Ruin Announce First-Ever Headlining Australian Tour Dates, January 2014

As if their inclusion in the recently announced MONA FOMA 2014 lineup wasn’t enough, connoisseurs of energetic dance-punk The Julie Ruin have announced their own batch of headlining shows, spreading the love between Melbourne and Sydney on what will be the first Australian tour ever.

It’s safe to say the band’s maiden voyage is well overdue. With so many prominent figures involved, The Julie Ruin’s reputation precedes them, adding all the more excitement to the announcement. Fronted by their fearless leader and riot grrrl pioneer Kathleen Hanna, the band features a dream line up hell bent on crafting exactly what was in her mind.

Now backed by a worthy legion of musicians, including former Bikini Kill bandmate Kathi Wilcox, Hanna is well on her way to spreading the good word of feminist punk.

Having only recently released their documentary The Punk Singer, both Hanna and her merry troupe of musicians are more relevant now than ever. With quick, witty lyrics and a punk groove that anyone can get down to, Aussie audiences have no idea what we have coming for us.
