Thom Yorke Is Surprised By The Success Of ‘A Moon Shaped Pool’

Every album Radiohead have released since OK Computer has entered the top ten in both the UK and Australia but apparently they’re still surprised when an album does well.

Their ninth album A Moon Shaped Pool went to number one in the UK and number two here in Australia and now they’re on a sold out world tour, proving their position as one of the biggest bands in the world.

According to frontman Thom Yorke though, they “expected the opposite reaction.”

“I cherish the band, but I don’t expect anyone else to,” Yorke said speaking to Q in his first interview since the release of the record.

The full interview will be published tomorrow but NME have offered a few teasers like Yorke revealing that his favourite song from the album is Daydreaming but only, “when we do it right.”

Bassist Collin Greenwood also spoke to Q praising Yorke for setting the album on the right path.

“Thom was just amazing,” he said.

“The album was going a bit wrong at the beginning, but he really pulled me and everyone else together.”

It took Radiohead five years following their last record The King Of Limbs to release a new one. It’s their largest gap in between albums ever beating out the gap in between Hail To The Thief and In Rainbows which was just over four years.
