It’s been six years since esteemed London singer-songwriter Tom Vek released his debut album We Have Sound. Now, on the eve of the release of his long awaited second album, he has been talking about his self-imposed hiatus from music.
Speaking to NME, Vek said, “The problem is, I don’t know what I would have done differently. I always maintained that the next piece of news was that there was a new album. It’s necessary to be mysterious about your operations when they’re a mystery to you!”
The new album is called Leisure Seizure, and is out through Island Records on September 13. The LP will be preceded by a single, A Chore.
On the subject of his absence from music, he added, “I’m not trying to turn round and say it was all deliberate, but looking back, I want to be positive about the situation I’ve ended up in, so being the delirious optimist, I’ll say it was all deliberate.”
