Did something to do with vintage cars get Travis Barker to Australia for Soundwave?
A new clip under the heading of ‘A Travis Barker Deal Breaker’ has emerged on the website of Seattle radio station The End 107.7 – featuring the Blink-182 drummer talking about his love for old cars.
The 4-minute clip was put together by the team at American motor company SanctionD Automotive for their ‘SanctionD Stories’ series.
In the clip, Barker mentions how he bought his first Cadillac for $500, restored it, and then took it out to a Blink-182 show at a nightclub in the band’s early days. He also mentions how devo he was when a girl he was dating at the time told him how she didn’t like old cars.
Who knows, maybe AJ Maddah saw the clip and arranged for a collection of beat-up old Cadillacs to transport Barker around Australia as an extra carrot to lure him and the band here for the Soundwave Festival…
Speaking of Soundwave, it was announced on Twitter today that Blink-182 sideshows will be announced on September 21. A date at Brisbane’s Riverstage has already been locked in.
