Triple J Announces Splendour In The Grass Unearthed Competition For 2013

If you’re not busy washing your hair or something in late July, triple j are running their annual triple j Unearthed Splendour In The Grass competition, looking for an unknown band from anywhere around the country to kick off SITG on the main stage. You’d only be opening for a few small acts like Mumford & Sons, Frank Ocean, The National and Of Monsters & Men – no biggie, right?

Unearthed are also seeking 3 local acts to fill the lineup, the definition of local meaning you’ve got to be from the government areas of Byron, Ballina, Lismore or Tweed to be considered, with preference given to acts based in the Byron Shire.

To be in the running for either opportunity, just have your tracks uploaded to the Unearthed site by midnight on Sunday, 23rd June and, if you’re a local artist, make sure your region is set to ‘North Coast’. If you’ve already got tracks uploaded, you’re automatically in the running.

Previous winners include dirty rock ‘n’ rollers Kingswood, worldly rising stars Jinja Safari and garage pop wonders Millions.

Splendour In The Grass 2013 kicks off at North Byron Parklands, Byron Bay, from Friday, 26th July and is completely sold out, though resale tickets will be available through Moshtix from next week.
