Triple J Has Revealed Its Top 10 Albums Of 2016, As Voted By You

triple j has revealed its list of the top 10 albums of 2016, as voted by listeners, and it might be the first local list Flume hasn’t topped this year.

While Flume‘s record Skin came in at number two, he was trumped by Violent Soho. Their record WACO topped the list capping off a very good year for the band. Just last month they took home two ARIAs for WACO.

Eight of the top 10 albums are by Australian artists with DMA’s, RÜFÛS, The Avalanches and Ballpark Music all included in the list.

The only two international artists to make the list were Frank Ocean and Radiohead who impressed listeners with their 2016 efforts.

In stark comparison to triple j Unearthed‘s list of their most played artists of 2016 which was dominated by females, this list doesn’t feature one female-fronted act. It’s surprising given the popularity of releases by Montaigne, Julia Jacklin and Camp Cope.

Last year’s list was topped by Tame Impala and also featured Courtney Barnett and Kendrick Lamar.
