UK Music Announce Music Management Video Game

UK Music have announced the release of a new video game app that lets the user enter the life of a modern day music manager. Titled Music Inc., the game’s tagline is “Sign Artists. Nurture Talent. Shape Music.” and offers the player an interactive experience signing and managing a rising band.

As Music Week reports, the game is the result of a collaboration by UK Music, the UK’s industry trade body, and the Intellectual Property Office, with development by Aardman Animations (Wallace & Gromit). It has the music industry’s stamp of approval, ensuring a realistic experience.

“If a gamer decides to make their artist’s single available for streaming, they will see the impact that decision could have on sales or indeed the effects of piracy,” says UK Music. Players will be able to select an up-and-coming artist, shape their act and image, choose their songwriters, producers and studio technicians, as well as taking care of the artist’s financial matters.

“Music Inc. is an extremely exciting project for UK Music as we join forces with the IPO and Aardman Animations to convey the message around the value of creativity in a fun and interactive way,” UK Music CEO Jo Dipple told Music Week, expressing optimism about the impact of the app.

“We can’t wait to see feedback from the public when the app launches in February, all the while generating an interest in the framework that underpins our ability to make a living from music, copyright.” The free game will be made available for iOs and Android devices in February.
