Vance Joy Cancels Meredith 2013 Appearance

Melbourne singer-songwriter Vance Joy, real name James Keogh, has pulled out of his appearance at Meredith Music Festival 2013 this Friday, on doctor’s orders of vocal rest. Fellow Victorian singer D.D Dumbo has been announced as Vance Joy’s replacement for Meredith23.

According to a statement from Vance Joy’s team:

“Following doctors orders & to prevent the risk of permanent damage, Vance Joy has been placed on vocal rest for the foreseeable future. As a result Vance Joy has to cancel his performance at Meredith Music Festival. We want to thank you for your understanding & well wishes.

“James and band are absolutely shattered, but his long term health has to be our priority here & therefore must follow doctors orders. This has been a really tough decision to make, given James’ personal affinity with the festival.”

Vance Joy was set to play on the festival’s opening day, Friday, 13th December, in between performances from Stonefield and Deerhunter. D.D. Dumbo reportedly describes his music as “earthy blues that references ‘African dessert, Tanzanian ilimba and transcendental Tuvan melody.'”
