Vance Joy, Courtney Barnett Included In List Of The Most Hated Songs Of All Time

A British music fan has compiled a list of the most hated songs off all time with the help of Twitter users all around the world and some of our Aussies have made the list.

As the NY Post reports, after a conversation with his friends Edward Carter put the call out on Twitter for “the song you most detest and despise,” and it went viral with thousands of songs sent in from all around the world.

He decided to collate everything that he was sent in and compile it in a list of the most hated songs and it’s since gone viral with many pretty pleased that they’re not alone in their hatred of certain songs.

Titled ‘Kryptonite songs’, it’s basically just a list of hated music topped by John Lennon’s Imagine which was apparently the most nominated song.

“I think it’s the whole idea of talking about poverty and misery, while John was actually hanging around in his palatial New York townhouse,” Carter told the NY Post about why he thinks the song was nominated.

Joni Mitchell’s Big Yellow Taxi got a lot of hate today with the original plus covers by Amy Grant and Counting Crows all nominated.

The Beatles are nominated for multiple songs as is Elton John, Phil Collins and Kings Of Leon. Robbie Williams looks to have been nominated the most times with seven songs included.

Rather interestingly, Nickelback, who are often named as the world’s most hated band, only picked up one nomination for Rockstar.

Aussie musicians have not been spared either with Vance Joy‘s Riptide, Courtney Barnett‘s Pickles From The Jar and Savage Garden’s Truly, Madly, Deeply all listed.

You can listen to the full playlist of songs on Spotify, if you dare, and check out the full list here.

If you want to join in on the hate-fest, the tweet to respond to is below.
