Vance Joy Covers Adele’s ‘Rolling In The Deep’ For ‘Like A Version’

Melbourne indie heart-throb Vance Joy got his Like A Version on this morning, busting out his haunting acoustic cover of Adele‘s smash hit Rolling In The Deep on triple j‘s Tom & Alex, as well as giving us some helpful information about the price of sausage rolls in times gone by.

The 25-year-old takes the humungous pop smash from the UK soul singer and turns it into something a little dark and unwieldy. The pinnacle of the original track was Adele’s huge, soaring vocals, whereas Joy has taken the opposite tactic and turned the lyrics into something deliciously understated and even a little chilling.

Joy, whose real name is James Keogh, seems to be poised to take over the world right now, having been announced on the bill for this year’s Meredith Music Festival and having his killer single Riptide used in the US to advertise the action camera brand GoPro. There’s also a couple of dates left in Melbourne and Brisbane if you want to catch the man in person on his current national tour.
