Warped Tour Australia Not Going Ahead In 2014

Any plans there may have been for a Vans Warped Tour Australia 2014 have been cancelled, it has been confirmed. Promoter AJ Maddah made the confirmation via Twitter last night, saying only the US version of the festival will go ahead this year.

Maddah dashed all hopes of the festival’s return when he replied to a Twitter follower’s question of whether the tour would go ahead with a succinct “nope”. Just yesterday the UK leg of the Warped Tour officially announced it also would not continue in 2014.

Vans Warped Tour promoter Kevin Lyman made the initial announcement, which was followed up with an explanation via the official Vans UK Twitter account. Organisers said they couldn’t get a line up together in time for Vans 2014 and are working on being back in Europe next year. No such explanation has been made about the Australian event.

Earlier this year Maddah commented the Vans Warped Tour had a “50/50″ chance of making a return in 2014. At the time he said he was waiting for a decision by Kevin Lyman. “What makes it tough is that Warped Europe is taking a year off and it becomes like herding cats,” he commented at the time.

On the other side of the world, punters attending the US Vans Warped Tour in Ventura, California this weekend were surprised with a special set by Linkin Park. They played a surprise 7-song set and brought a bunch of special guests, including Finch‘s Nate Barcalow and Breathe Carolina‘s David Schmitt. The US Vans Warped Tour is currently celebrating its 20th anniversary.
