Warped Tour Sideshows For Perth In Doubt

The chance for Western Australians, who were unfortunately denied a Perth stop for the imminent Vans Warped Tour Australia 2013, to see some of their favourite punk acts has been cast in doubt after festival promoter AJ Maddah took to Twitter to say sideshow plans have “gone to shit.”

“All Perth [Warped Tour Australia] side show plans have gone to shit due to astronomical travel costs. Will do a couple [Soundwave Festival 2014] Sidewaves to make up to Perth,” Maddah tweeted, dashing the hopes of many fans who were looking forward to seeing some Warped action.

Earlier this year Maddah blamed suffocatingly bureaucratic regulations imposed on promoters looking to bring events to Perth for the omission of the city as a Warped Tour stop, saying “State laws have made it just about impossible to do all-ages shows.”

Maddah subsequently revealed via Twitter that while no other states would receive Warped sideshows, “There will be in Perth” to make up for stuffy government getting in the way of rock and roll. Maddah’s latest dispatch has now put this in serious doubt.

There is still hope for Hatebreed fans however, with Maddah tweeting “I am still working to salvage Hatebreed show,” though no further details have emerged just yet. Meanwhile bad news for The Offspring fans, Maddah tweeting:

“No Offspring show at all now. Sorry. They have tons of shit & big crew. We couldn’t afford travel & freight.”

Maddah recently revealed that Millencolin and Reel Big Fish would be doing a Perth sideshow. With the recent revelations it’s not clear if this will be going ahead. Stay tuned to Music Feeds to keep up to date as news comes through.
