Watch 550 Musicians, Actors Weigh In On The Lennon Or McCartney Question

It’s one of the most ubiquitous questions of the modern musical era. John Lennon or Paul McCartney? Now, production company Scared Goose has took it upon themselves to try to get to the bottom of the perennial conundrum by looking at the opinions of 550 notable figures in the music and arts community.

Scared Goose’S 34-minute documentary, below, splices together footage from 10 years’ worth of interviews featuring hundreds of musicians, actors, directors and media personalities answering or avoiding the impossible question.

Musicians featured in the clip include The Who’s Pete Townshend, David Byrne, INXS, The Sex Pistols, Against Me!’s Laura Jane Grace, Kendrick Lamar, Broken Social Scene’s Kevin Drew, Wu-Tang Clan, Metallica, Jenny Lewis, The Velvet Underground, Passion Pit, Katy Perry, Lady GaGa, Mumford & Sons, Childish Gambino, The Doors, Phoenix, Florence & the Machine, Garbage, and many more.

Some pick a side, others cop out and say both, a few go for George or Ringo and one, namely Ben Howard, even dismisses the premise all together and picks Hendrix. Far from settling the debate, it’s an interesting look at the tastes of some of the world’s most famous and influential musicians.

For those keeping count, the final tally read 282 for Lennon, 196 for McCartney. 50 people gave no answer, 15 chose George Harrison, and four chose Ringo Starr.
