Watch Airbourne Legend Joel O’Keeffe Fall Offstage Mid-Solo, Return To Power Through Set With Broken Ribs

Australia’s hardest riffin’ road dogs Airbourne have once again schooled us all on what rawk n’ roll is all about.

The Melbourne-bred guitar slingers are currently in the midst of a monster world tour spanning the US, UK, Europe and beyond, and during a stop in Canada’s British Columbia this week, frontman Joel O’Keeffe chucked a full on Dave Grohl.

The singer/guitarist stacked it onstage mid-solo during the band’s encore song, Running Wild, which in itself is pretty unusual. As anyone who’s ever seen Airbourne live before can attest, this dude has made a career out of scaling massive amp stacks and stage scaffolding while exploding beers on his head without pretty much ever missing a note:

Exhibit B:

In short, he don’t go down easy.

So maybe old mate was just having an off night, but at any rate, down he went.

But it wasn’t for long. As his band improvised with some Black Sabbath riffage, crew members rushed to help a very injured O’Keeffe up and hop him back to a newly positioned stool right in front of the mic to polish the set off like a boss – all in less than 45 seconds flat.

Airbourne’s management have revealed to Music Feeds that the frontman suffered multiple broken ribs and torn ligaments during the stack (fkn ouch!). But if you thought that’d get in the way of his band’s current touring plans, you’d be DEAD wrong.

“He’s in a little pain but has been fully checked out and in true rock’n’roll form will be carrying on with the rest of the shows!” The band’s management say.

Yep. There’s no way but the hard way, so get used to it.

Watch the whole thing go down in the video below, and catch Airbourne touring their brand spanker Breakin’ Outta Hell live Down Under, in January 2017.
