Watch: Arctic Monkeys Performing At The Olympics Opening Ceremony

Sheffield superstars the Arctic Monkeys got the athletes dancing – literally – with their two song set right towards the end of the Olympic Games Opening Ceremony in London overnight.

As predicted earlier in the week, the band played two songs as part of the four-hour long event.  After the athletes arrived into the Olympic Stadium and several traditional Olympic formalities, the band blasted onto the stage to perform their breakout hit I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor – complete with fireworks shooting off the roof during each chorus.

The band then did a surprise cover of The Beatles’ Come Together, accompanied by a stack of ceremony performers dressed as butterfly-like creatures.  The performers rode bikes around the arena whilst flapping their gigantic wings.

The Come Together cover was a nice little transition into original Beatle Sir Paul McCartney‘s appearance – Macca closed the ceremony with the band’s hits The End and Hey Jude.
