Now that beloved Aussie rockers Grinspoon are back together and touring their faces off, drummer and YouTuber Kye Smith has given the band’s riff-lovin’ discography the ‘5 Minute Drum Chronology’ treatment, and it’s epic.
Smith’s latest video covers Grinners’ seven-album catalogue, pumping out the drum parts to all of their most well-known (and lesser-known) tracks, and Smith says it was “a special one” to record.
“Grinners were one of the first bands I learnt to play on drums,” he says.
“This 5 Minute Chronology aims to cover their entire career in 5 minutes using snippets of their work from their inception to now. Recorded in order as a complete 5 minute piece.”
Smith’s Grinspoon video, which you can watch below, is the latest in a long line of ‘5 Minute Drum Chronology’ clips, which have recently featured the music of AC/DC, The Living End and every winner of the triple j Hottest 100.
Meanwhile, Grinspoon have come out of hiatus for a massive national tour between June and September, in celebration of the 20th Anniversary of their debut album Guide To Better Living. They’re also set to perform at the second State Of Origin game next month.
