Written by John Ritchie on February 17, 2011

Deftones fans in Bangkok started rioting after the band was forced to cancel their show at short notice. Electrical problems caused the band to call off the 25,000 capacity show at the Thunderdome Arena.

According to the Associated Press, the concert was due to start at 8pm (ICT), but was delayed until 9:30pm, then organisers announced that the show was being called off.

After the announcement a few hundred fans were not happy and started throwing bottles, breaking windows and setting fire to tents and beer booths outside the venue.

The band issued a statement on their Facebook page, Facebook.com/deftones saying : Deftones would like to apologize to those that were inconvenienced and hope to return to Thailand in the near future. Refund info to follow soon.

No one was seriously hurt or injured during the disturbance.
