Pro-shot footage has emerged of singer-songwriter Courtney Barnett covering Heavy Heart by Aussie alt-rockers You Am I — a track which she says is her favourite song of all time.
Barnett rarely performs her Heavy Heart cover, and only a few crowd-shot bootlegs exist, so this new clip really is a treat. Captured at a show Barnett played for the US music series Austin City Limits earlier this year, the cover sees CB perform the track solo, without any backing band.
She does the original justice, of course, because she really, really, really loves this song. Here’s what she tweeted about it last year:

Barnett’s take on the You Am I track is the latest in a string of recent Aussie classics she’s covered, including Shivers by The Boys Next Door, and a take on Archie Roach’s Charcoal Lane with Paul Kelly.

Barnett has a handful of festivals appearances lined up, with slots at Falls, Southbound and Sugar Mountain all locked in. A national theatre tour supported by Cloud Control is also scheduled for January 2016.
